Q: Why did you choose to pursue this career path?I joined DoubleClick in 1999 after a few years in more traditional marketing companies. After working in such a fast-paced, growing, fun environment with smart people who were making it happen I couldn’t go back. You have to be resilient in this industry but there is so much opportunity.
Q: If you weren’t in the ad tech industry, what would you be doing?
I love traveling, home design, and a sport called platform (paddle) tennis. I would probably do something that involved one or more of those!
Q: What do you think is the key to success for professional women in ad tech and what are the challenges?
The challenges for women are that they may be top performers but they don’t necessarily get promoted or the raise they want. They need to ask for it – if you don’t ask you don’t get, unfortunately. I love seeing some of these younger women who are learning how to self-promote themselves in the right way – I respect it tremendously.
Q: What career achievements are you most proud of?
Growing the business at InMobi. We started out as a little known company in NA and now we are growing exponentially in terms of revenue and headcount. It’s exciting!
Q: What is the most impactful thing you have read/learned from over 20 years of experience that you would like to share with new entrants?
"Advertising money can change the world - we are literally seeing it with the move to support minority owned businesses."
Q: What do you think is the next big thing in mobile marketing?
I love the work we are doing with our Glance product in APAC – bringing immersive curated experiences to the homescreen on your phone’s device. It’s innovative and personalized and I’m looking forward to InMobi rolling it out in the US.
Q: What is the most productive way to start your day?
I walk the beach in the morning with my King Charles Cavalier puppy named Tiramisu (Tira). We walk 3-4 miles and it clears my head – I am able to think of ideas and solutions in this quiet time.
Q: Tell us one fun fact about yourself that only a few people know.
My first job was teaching English in Prague in the Czech Republic.
Q: What would you do with the extra time, if you didn't have to sleep?
I would play golf, tennis, paddle, pickleball and maybe learn a new sport.
Q: What is the one thing you hope never changes?
The ocean beaches – they are beautiful.
I will borrow one from a good friend – “Have fun when you can!”
