Employee appreciation is more than saying thank you. It’s about showing that you understand and empathize with the struggles your team faces every day. Appreciation reinforces employees’ understanding of their roles and expectations, which drives engagement and performance. It connects the team’s efforts back to a grand vision and mission.

We are passionate about continuing our insights series featuring Aarki employees who went above and beyond in their work during the month. Coral An, Country Manager - China, was recognized as the most exceptional employee for her dedication and hard work.

“Since China has been in a severe situation due to coronavirus in recent months, we’ve switched to working from home. Even in these trying circumstances, Coral has been dealing with her existing and new accounts effectively,” said Naoki Kobayashi, Vice President of Asia at Aarki. “She succeeded in increasing the budget drastically and in launching a new major client campaign. I believe her efforts will result in constant growth in the Chinese market.”

Coral joined Aarki with a strong passion to forge relationships with clients and strengthen business partnerships. With her 5-plus years of experience in this industry, she has a deep knowledge and understanding of the mobile advertising market in China.

To acknowledge her contribution and to find out more about her, we asked Coral several questions.

Q: How did your interest in the mobile industry begin?
My interest in the mobile industry started when I joined a company that focused on limited free iOS apps. My job was to investigate a certain app and write reviews. It was a totally new area for me during the time when iPhone 4 dominated. Generally, apps on the phone enable us to do a variety of things like learning new skills, shopping, playing games, etc. I was curious about how an app could have achieved that and decided to stay in this industry and learn more about it.

Q: What is the most important tip to bridge the trust gap between you and clients?
In my opinion, there are several tips that should be taken into consideration when we are dealing with clients, such as industry knowledge, communication skills, and more. However, the most important things are honesty and empathy, telling the truth about the issue and also trying to understand the client's concerns.

Q: What are your three most overused words/phrases?
When I am at work, I overuse CPI, KPI, ROI (LOL), but generally, I think “Hahaha” is the answer.

Q: What is your most favorite vacation destination?
Somewhere with a beach, a good view and fresh air. I’m still exploring my favorite vacation spot. Currently, I’m planning to go to Phuket, not only for the beach but also for CrossFit box and MUAY THAI club. I just can’t live without sports.

Q:What do you miss most about being a kid?
Since I can’t remember anything before age seven, I would like to replay it if there was a time machine.
