Ad creative is one of the most critical factors that drive a mobile advertising campaign's success, so a professional team that goes above and beyond to provide comprehensive, creative solutions that further improve campaign performance, is essential.

We are thrilled to continue our insight series featuring Aarki employees who gave stellar work performances during the month. Pitch Oguan, Creative Lead (Art), and Yves Daniel Cenita, Motion Graphics Director at Aarki, are appreciated for their dedication and efforts that contributed to our company’s success and progress.

“The nature of our industry is fast-paced and ever-changing, and both Pitch and Yves are great examples of how to rise to these challenges and use them as opportunities for growth”, said Kass Yboa, Creative Director at Aarki. “The pandemic forced us to adapt to a work-from-home setup, and through their combined efforts, they managed to keep their teams motivated. Pitch's organization and task management skills were integral in making sure nothing fell through the cracks with the influx of creative requests coming in, and Yves did an excellent job keeping abreast and learning quickly to adapt to his new role as team lead for video. They are both inspiring in their own right!”

To get to know Pitch and Yves better, we have asked them several questions. But before we get to the interview, let’s take a look at how they illustrate their love for creating art/video in doodles:

Q: What do you love most about the company culture at Aarki?

Pitch: It’s certainly the diversity and support we get from colleagues. I feel like these are, also, part of why Aarki continuously improves in terms of productivity, creativity, and innovation.

With the pandemic going on, I’m grateful that Aarki embraced the changes and prioritizes each concern we are facing — which makes us feel safe, confident, and assured, knowing that employees matter.

Yves: Most definitely the team. I love how collaborative and enthusiastic they are, even on non-work-related things. We all share the same passion and interest in our field and that is what makes me push further and learn new things.

Q: What’s your top tip when it comes to mobile ad creative?

Pitch
: It’s probably these three:
  • One, comprehensive research about the app. Having an in-depth understanding will help you with what you can showcase/highlight in your ad.
  • Two, is all about catching your target audience's attention within 2-3 seconds of playing your ad. There’s a high probability that your mobile audience is just quickly browsing, so you need to invest more to entice them using engaging and concise visuals.
  • Lastly, relating to Rachel Grady’s famous quote “Always put yourself in other’s shoes." - Empathetic ads usually captivate mobile audiences due to their sense of familiarity.

Yves: When making creative ads, I always put myself in the user's perspective: what would I like to see in an ad? What would I do if I saw the ad? Will it pique my interest the moment I see it? It all makes sense if you always set yourself as your own audience.

Q: What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

“You can never go wrong with proper communication and transparency.” - Pitch

Pitch: Having good team communication and transparency is a crucial factor. Being a Creative Team Lead requires a lot of patience and understanding — it’s a challenging responsibility, so when people talk, you need to listen and understand them. I always believe that proper communication helps you build trust, respect, and resolves the conflict of ideas by promoting a healthy working environment.

"Take one step at a time." - Yves

Yves: Be proud of those little achievements and be even prouder when you can look back and see all these actions added up to what you can achieve now.

Q: What’re the top three apps you use daily?

Pitch: That’s a tough one! I use a lot of apps, haha! BUT — I’ll go with Telegram, Netflix & Spotify.

Yves: Instagram to check the art pages I follow (also helps to get rid of the creative block!), Messenger to keep in touch with friends and families, and Youtube to get those “creative juices” filled up. :)
